But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. – Matthew 6:33
Success is often measured in this world by the brands of cars we drive, the size of our homes, our income, fame, and power. Yet, none of these worldly achievements equate to success in God’s kingdom.
When we become entangled in the world’s definition of success, we put too much pressure on ourselves to attain these worldly possessions.
Instead, Matthew 6:33 calls us to redirect our efforts toward seeking the kingdom of God. This means actively pursuing God’s will with humility and prayer. ” Seeking His righteousness” means living in alignment with God’s moral standards, striving for holiness and obedience through the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
The promise that follows is a source of great comfort and encouragement: “And all these things will be added to you.” When we prioritize God’s kingdom and His righteousness, we discover that our Heavenly Father provides for our needs. As we align with God’s will, our fixation on luxury cars, grand homes, or social comparisons diminishes in significance. Instead, we find contentment and fulfillment in God’s abundant provision for those who seek Him first.
