From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. – Psalm 121: 1b – 2

The Bible is full of incredible promises of help from the Lord for those who hope and trust in Him. In Psalm 121:2, the Psalmist asks a rhetorical question, “From where does my help come?” and he immediately answers, “My help comes from the Lord, who made the heaven and Earth.”

When life takes unexpected turns, fear can quickly grip our hearts and become a dominating force. We often seek help in all the wrong places, turning to the world, culture, government, or others for solace. Yet, these earthly sources of hope may falter.

As believers, we must anchor our hearts in the unwavering knowledge that our help comes directly from the Lord. He provides vigilant, sleepless protection: “He will not let your foot slip—he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep” (Psalm 121:3–4).

Throughout the Bible, we are repeatedly encouraged not to yield to fear. No matter the trials we face, God is more than capable of guiding us through them. He is not just a helper; He is the Helper, the One who sustains us in every season.

When fear attempts to infiltrate our hearts, we must meditate on God’s Word and pray the psalm’s promises back to Him. Engaging in the practice of praying the Psalms back to the Lord is an invaluable habit that redirects our thoughts from self-centered worries to God-centered trust. Use Psalm 121 as your guide. Praise the Lord for His character, petition Him for protection, and pray for Him to cast out your fears. In His presence, your spirit will overflow with gratitude and hope, causing fear to retreat in the presence of our great God.

Be assured that in every danger, the LORD himself watches over you! The LORD stands beside you as your protective shade” (Psalm 121:5). Whether you face threats to your physical or spiritual well-being, in every facet of life, God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. Twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, God has us covered.
