It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” – Deuteronomy 31:8
Moses chose Joshua as the new leader to guide the Israelites across the vast Jordan River into the Promised Land. It was an enormous task, and fear naturally crept in. Joshua likely felt unprepared for the challenges that lay ahead. In that moment, Moses provided not just guidance but profound comfort, reminding Joshua and the Israelites that the Lord would pave their way. He said, “It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” He assured them that God would be their constant companion, never abandoning them; hence, there was no need to fear.
Today, you might be standing at your own Jordan River, facing uncharted waters in the form of a new job, a budding relationship, or the challenges of your academic pursuits. These unexplored realms often evoke feelings of uncertainty, fear, and self-doubt. We question our capabilities, ponder the challenges, and fear what lies ahead. Yet, in these very moments, God’s promise becomes our unshakable anchor.
God assures us that He will neither leave nor forsake us. Just as He stood beside Joshua, He stands with us today. Our fears might seem insurmountable, but they do not define us or determine our journey. Like Joshua, we are called to step forward with unwavering faith, trusting that the same God who guided him across the Jordan will navigate us through our daunting rivers.
Every challenge, regardless of its vastness, is an opportunity for God to unveil His strength within our vulnerabilities. Our courage doesn’t stem from our abilities but from our steadfast trust in God’s enduring presence and promises. Pray and believe that God is with you in your journey.
