In your anger, do not sin: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry. – Ephesians 4:26

Anger can lead us down a perilous path, clouding our judgment and driving us to make decisions we later regret. I remember a tragic incident in the news: a schoolgirl in Guyana set her dorm on fire after being disciplined for using her mobile phone. This impulsive act claimed 19 young lives.

Ephesians 4:26 advises, “In your anger, do not sin: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry.”

Admitting your anger is the first step to managing it; denying it only lets it fester. When anger flares, pause, breathe deeply, and seek solace in prayer, inviting God for guidance and peace. His calming presence can quiet the storm within your heart.

Ephesians 4:31-32 guides us, “Get rid of all bitterness, rage, and anger… Be kind and compassionate, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” Forgiveness doesn’t condone wrongs but frees you from their grip, ushering in healing.

James 1:20 warns, “Human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.”

Clinging to anger is toxic. Resolve issues promptly. Avoid slander and vengeance. Instead, forgive, be kind, and guard your heart against sin. We are called to emulate Jesus, responding with love and understanding even amidst anger. With God’s strength, you can overcome the storm of anger within you.

Prayer:
Dear Lord,

In moments of anger, help me pause, pray, and seek Your guidance. Grant me the strength to forgive and embrace kindness. May I model Your righteousness and find swift resolution, guarding my heart against sin. Thank You for Your unwavering love and the peace that surpasses understanding. Amen.
